Hi there, I’m Mackenzie Miles

a sports and portrait photographer located in Maryland

I started this journey six years ago, and I still learn something new with every session!

I was raised in Thomasville; a small, quirky town in southeast Georgia. Six years ago, when I left for college, I had no clue I’d be where I am today. Photography was something I was always interested in, but didn’t pursue out of fear of not being good enough. I took a leap of faith, bought a camera and the rest is history. While at the University of Georgia; I took photography classes in Lamar Dodd School of Art, Photojournalism classes in Grady College, contributed for the Red & Black Newspaper, volunteered for UGA Athletics, and grew my personal business. I have learned so much about storytelling and capturing those special moments through my classes and experiences at UGA. I’m so blessed to have found my passion and share it with so many people.

After graduation, I did a one year photography internship with the University of Georgia Athletic Association. I had the opportunity to experience shooting every sport, many events, and media days. Georgia Football won the CFP National Championship for the first time in 41 years, and I was able to travel to Indy to capture their historic moment after covering practices, press conferences, events, and every home game throughout their 2021 season.

In the summer of 2022, I accepted a job as Assistant Director of Photography at the University of Maryland, but was quickly promoted to Director in May of 2023. My passion for sport photography continues to grow and at UMD, I’m getting to explore new sports like Field Hockey, Lacrosse, and Wrestling. As Director, I now have the opportunity to lead and teach a team of 2 staff photographers and 5 students, which has become an area of immense pride for me.

If you’re in need of a session, I’d love to connect with you and document this special time in your life!!

Clover

One of my favorite things in the whole world is my sweet dog, Clover. She’s a 4 year old standard blue merle Australian Shepherd. I got her at the beginning of the pandemic in March of 2020 and she’s the only thing that kept me sane. She’s my best friend and my good luck charm.

I am 100% the type of person to make an instagram for their dog, so follow @good.luck.clover if you want to see more cutie pics of her!

Family

Family is super important to me! I wouldn’t be where I am today without the continued support and love from my parents. Recently, my family has gained some new members - My mom got remarried and my brother and sister-in-law just had their second child, my first niece! I’m so excited for my growing family and making memories with them.
